A Stranger to Self

Do you know what it’s like to never show anyone your true self?

Do you know what it’s like to tell yourself somebody didn’t hurt you, even though they did?

Do you know what it’s like to tell them they didn’t hurt you, even though they did, over and over and over again?

Do you know what it’s like to be a stranger to yourself?

Do you know what it’s like to banish pain to the deepest recesses of your heart and mind? Bury it in a bunch of garbage to disguise it as worthless?

To disguise your own pain as worthless so nobody will know?

Not even you?

Do you?
